What Counts as Domestic Violence?
Most people think of domestic violence as family violence and, more specifically, as violence between a husband and wife. This is an understandable assumption given that the majority of cases are of that type. In truth, however, domestic violence is defined much more broadly by Arizona law.
First, the violence in question doesn't have to be a punch or a kick. It can be something as simple as making a call to someone who has an order of protection against you. The only requirement for the charges to be classified as DV-related is that the people involved are related or have lived together at some point in their lives.
